Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 21, 2026

At Patchlight, your privacy is fundamental to everything we build. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our desktop application and related services. By using Patchlight, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide and improve our service:

Account Information

When you create a Patchlight account, we collect your name, email address, and password. If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Google or GitHub), we receive basic profile information from that provider, including your name and email address.

Feedback Data

The customer feedback you import and analyze in Patchlight is processed locally on your device. This data is not sent to our servers. Your feedback data remains entirely under your control.

Usage Analytics

We may collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics to understand how Patchlight is used and to improve the product. This data does not include your feedback content and cannot be used to identify you personally. Examples include feature usage frequency, session duration, and crash reports.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your Patchlight account
  • To authenticate you when you sign in to the application
  • To send you important service-related communications, such as security alerts or changes to our terms
  • To improve and optimize the Patchlight experience using anonymous analytics
  • To provide customer support when you contact us

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes. We will never monetize your data.

3. Data Storage & Security

Patchlight is built with a local-first architecture. Your customer feedback data is processed and stored on your own device. It is never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly opt in to cloud sync features.

Account information (name, email, and hashed password) is stored securely on our servers using industry-standard encryption. We use bcrypt for password hashing and never store passwords in plaintext. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS, and data at rest is encrypted on our database infrastructure.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Patchlight account.

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

Patchlight uses cookies solely for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. The cookies we use are strictly necessary for the service to function and to keep you signed in securely.

5. Third-Party Services

We may use a limited number of third-party services to operate Patchlight, such as hosting providers, authentication services, and anonymous analytics platforms. These services are bound by their own privacy policies and are only given access to the minimum information needed to perform their functions.

We do not share your feedback data with any third-party service. Third-party integrations that you connect (such as importing data from external sources) are initiated and controlled entirely by you.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of any inaccurate personal information
  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@patchlight.net. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

Patchlight is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 may have provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@patchlight.net.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice in the application. Your continued use of Patchlight after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
